TX or TX-N

I'm going to get a new breaker next month, and its going to be a TX 700, or the TX-N version, now I'v read somewhere that one is better than the other, but cant remember which one is the best. Could do with a bit of advice on this ,thanks.

Not getting anything other than a Rubi.

TX700 has a fixed guide rail. the TX700-N has a swivel guide. easy to cut 45's etc.. as the centre point stays at 0 degrees and the guide swivels.

Yeah, i know, but if you snap me in half it says rubi all the way though me.... TBH though i'v never tried a sigma.

But after that the rubi I learnt with went straight on eBay lol

It's true. Sigma are in another class to others. I would say have a go on one and you will see what i mean.

I bought a spare arm for my sig and cut the length of it just because of this..

I used to be Rubi thru n thru Phil until I tried a monty, great breaker although I think I'll replace my TS60 plus with sigma.:8:

just replace your ts60 with a tx700. rubi do some good cutters. i think the best 4 cutters are rubi ts40, sigma 5m , tx700 and sigma 3em or the 3fm.
ts40 brilliant for ceramics. clear view, quick and simple.
sigma 5m for mosiacs, nice rubber bed for gripping the sheets.
tx700 more than adequate for tiles upto that length and no large measuring bar to get in the way and nice and slim line!!
sigma 3em, definately the best for everything above and beyond the call of duty ;0)

sigma and rubi or any brand for that matter can be used together you know. its horses for courses. joiners have lots of different cutting options and it doesnt matter to them if its got dewalt, makita, festool or whatever written on the side. if it does the job for the purpose, then its fine with me. its all about how comfortable you feel on a day to day basis using your cutter. lets be honest, you can break most tiles with a scribe, straight edge and a hammer so all this sigma rubi thing is really tongue in cheek . the cutter only does what the tiler asks of it. anyway, i'm off to buy a tomecanic ....:nono:

on a day to day basis i cant but on certain situations i can :0)
i am very tempted at times because i fully admit they are built better than rubi, a blind man can see that but its all about being comfortable and thats where i still have my reservations. the 3em is a brillant cutter tho mate.

Just bought a 3DM myself (push cutter ) and I can see why some people moan about not being able to see the cutting line although you need to learn how to use and trust it.

well if you dont like the push 'max' handle, you can always buy the pull handle, switch it round and viola, you have a 3d!! i'll give sigma their due in that dept, they think of the user where things like that are concerned.

No its fine, just different to the pull action I am used to. If needed I do have a spare pull handle lying about.

I spent years with Rubis and the TS40 is a fab little cutter, had a TS70 Plus and thought it was duff, looked at the TX's but i saw a Montolit in Tradetiler and never used my Rubi again, but as above it's horses for courses.

Also the Montolit has very clever gauge system that you can set up to cut repeated cuts, but if you need to cut a different size it moves up and out the way so you can cut what ever size tile you need. Then drop it back down and you have you're gauge back again, very nifty.

I know the Sigma has a height adjustable bar for cutting up to 20mm. You can keep it set to 10mm but if you get a thicker tile then just raise the bar slightly.
