priced a job for a builder at this mum's house ,he wanted a cash priced Deal and said it was 64m2 all in and he was supplying all materials ,okay I said 1800 based on 64 m2 got one of my tilers to start the bathrooms and the builder asks if we can supply ditra for the bathroom floors and will we do the ufh, no not on that price if you get it laid we will laytex over it and then ditra but you need to supply the mats and we will charge you the time it takes ,usual spiel no money on the job blah, blah blah, getting out of his brand new RS3 audi and his parnter pulling up in a year old mercedes sls
cut a long story short we arrived on site this morning to tile the kitchen floor 25m2, stuck a tape measure over it its 37 m2 he was there and his boys were over boarding the chipboard in the kitchen,i pointed out they were using the wrong screws as they need to be threaded the length of the screws he had the wrong adhesive and we would be adjusting the price up as there was more meterage, his first statement was the bloke in the shop said it would be fine and will it last 6 months (his mothers house lol) Then it was there is no more money on the job and I have to swallow the extra metres, then finished by telling his chippy to just use the ****ing screws and to take no notice of me,I politely pointed out that we dont bodge our work or work for nothing so he said just leave it then Gary and dont worry about the floor as he will get someone else to do it ,we packed the van back up and went home looks like i have fallen out with him now but to be honest it is no skin off of my nose as I dont want to work for a cowboy outfit,I told Ian my tiler to finish up the bathrooms he has started and to leave site so looks like i will not be doing any more for these clowns

Better to end it before you get ripped off than get ripped off and then realise you were working for nowt.

People who don't pay right for jobs aren't good customers at all so you've lost nothing there mate.

For the sake of some screws which probably cost the same as the screws he got, and for the sake of fibbing about the meterage, as if you wouldn't find out, he's only screwed his own day up there.

Pull some stuff forward mate and move on.

Numpties man - the world's full of 'em.

Same here. Last week: i asked site manager when rooms will be ready for me? when tiles comming etc.? He said, there is other sub.contractors (fire safety guys) more expensive than me so they are more inportant bla bla bla. So i said, i packing up my tools and leaving. He said OK no problem, i will get some tiler from agency. Same day i had a chat with companys office that, what (SM) DID, was wery unprofetional etc.
Tonight: got sms from (SM) " HI Tony, sorry for last week, i have ready empty rooms and all materials, tiles. Could you finish the job? :mad2:
