Hi Guys

Going to measure up for 2 bathrooms tonight and the custoer (My GP) wants UFH fitted as well.

My question is how much do you charge to install it? The customer is aware that an electrician will be needed too to do the final connection and commission and sign it off.

Looking at the fitting instructions it needs Ply (or Backerboards) then Flexi addy, then insulation, then the mats and then either flexi addy or SLC.

Then its ready to tile.

How much do you charge and do yoiu use Addy or SLC on top of the matting?

Can you not use something like Wedi board for your backer board, saves a bit of height as it is also insulation as well? Would certainly cover over with SLC (arditex is very good) as well 'cos it will protect the cabling (flexy addy will do as well I suppose). I would charge day rate plus materials, depends how big the floor is I suppose.

You should be fine with a Marmox board or similar directly on the timber floor, stick it using Flexi, then the UFH, then SLC, then tile it. There seems to be an extra layer in those instructions, Marmox is an insulating tile backer board.

www.varme.co.uk for trade suppliers, they do a cheaper "varme board" which is the same as marmox. www.handyheat.co.uk is their online retail store.
