Undulating freshly laid ply floor? Products to screed ?

I have a pub floor to fix 25 metres of Brazilian slate to, he floorboards are all over the place wpb ply is fixed 9mm at 6 inch centres, screwed, it's still gonna be a ***** so are there any screeds out there to go on the ply?

Mapei Renovation screed will go on to ply as would Weber Flex ? and Ultra levelit one but on to 9mm ply is a no no fo me...Pub floor and slate on ply = DISASTER

Not my choice! It's a small area where two tables will go to break up the karndean.

What ply do you advise ? Would you advise to screed ? What complications could arise ?

Tell the client they would be 200 times better off just smoothing out the ply with some Uzin NC 181 and then sticking more Karndean down. Ply needs to be 15mm (British Standard) which doesn't exist, so 18mm. SLC how thick? 15mm? With reinforcing mesh (Swedish standard, don't know British). Plus height of slate, 10mm, plus 4mm adhesive. How much higher is this area going to end up than the rest of the floor????

If they want to break up the Karndean just get some more Karndean in a different colour/style :lol:

I stand corrected. I always thought it was 12mm, 18mm and 22mm. Mind you, for £22.75 a board there must be a dozen preferable alternative materials...

Small town pub (Alnwick, Northumberland) if he wants slate he will get it!
Thanks for the advice, I'll crack on with another 6mm or 9mm over the top and take it from there, results to be posted in a week or so (two bathrooms to do first)

I was thinking the same thing, was just looking at prices of all sheet materials. OSB is 31.5% dearer on your site than here.

I suppose the falling value of Sterling means prices of imported materials from Scandinavia are rising, but given the differences in VAT prices and the fact we get ripped off on everything, I would have expected it cheaper in England.

Wood in general over here is stupid prices but there are alternatives. I dont use ply any more if can be helped.

I agree, when you have marmox type boards and cement boards why would you ever bother using ply these days??

If you put 6mm on top that can make the problem worse if you have to do it take the 9mm ply up and stick it down with rapid flex and screw then stick the 6mm down the same way
