Hi everyone

Finally got someone to do my tiling for me, says he wants to use "Stone set thick bed white adhesive"! I mentioned Bal etc but he said he always uses this adhesive ( does not want to use rapid set) and its fine for polished porcelaine on a new concrete floor. I've never heard of it, any advice please.

He says he's going to unibond the floors before tiling and use Ardex C2 grout which I said i thought would need an additive so that its is flexible for porcelain.

He seems a very nice guy but just checking first.

Grateful for any advice

Dave is obviously correct about the adhesive, as usual. The ardex c2 will be fine but he does need to add E101 for porcelain - and he needs to get it off quick once it starts to set as it really sticks to the tiles!

Bit worried now as this is a 50 sq mtr job.
Adhesive is OK thank goodness and I did say to him that he needs to use admix to the grout ( bit of a worry as he's the tiler).
More the worry is in his quote is that the floor is to be unibonded before tiling. Why has he said this do you think. What should I say, just straight adhesive and then tile, or does the concrete need to be primed with a tile primer first, then the adhesive and then the tiles.
Very difficult as I'm no expert but thankfully got a lot of help from this forum.

Can you please advise where I might get a tiler who can just do the job without me panicking and having to ask you guys all the time.
I went to my local large tile shop who said they could'nt recommend someone but could give me a list of names ! I understand the legal implications.
However from this list we had one young guy who quoted so little for the job - and so underestimated for the materials it was ridiculous. One who thought our tiles were ceramic and they are 60 x 60 non rectified porcelain!!! The last chap who wanted to use non flex. grout and unibond!
We are in middx and need the job done pref. w/c 4th Feb.
Any ideas. I tried this siteoriginally but nothing came up for our postcode.
