Unusual backyard landing and steps – how to approach it

Hi Guys
You can see out the back of my place there is a landing covered in paint which I want to tile, the actual steps overhang the brick which is weird and so downs the landing. What’s the best way to handle this?

Should I level out the steps so they are like a block, tile just the landing, should I tile the brick as well which is holding up the landing?

Not really sure about the best way to tackle it, any help you be really! great

Hi paint will need to be removed first and i would recommend just tiling the edges of the concrete ,as i believe they are pre cast steps

Australia ? thought I recognised teh screen on the door and the block/concrete drive

1st step would be removing the paint.

As the others have said the first thing is to strip off the paint and I also would yilt the top and sides of the concrete steps. By the way it is common practice for the slabs to overhang the sides as this aids water run off. The water would drip off the bottom of the slabs rather than trickling down the brickwork which if it freezes could damage the face of the brick
