Unusual Pets .. snakes / lizards etc..

Nephew has been getting a gecko ...

Anyone keep unusual pets...


Not something i have fancied keeping really.. deffo not spiders anyway.. :yikes:

Have had a few oddities over the years, snakes, lizards and a Chameleon at one point.

And a +1 for no spiders, hate the things lol

haven't got time for anything else. feeding the cats is bad enough, especially now there are another 4 kittens soon to be needing weaned onto 'proper food' !

My daughter volunteers for a local exotic pet refuge which takes in all the pets that folks who really have no idea of what's involved in looking after some of these animals. They have lots of reptiles including an alligator that was bought at a pet shop by someone who thought it was a "cute lizard" until it outgrew the bath tub they kept it in.

I have a personal aversion to keeping non domesticated animals as pets.

I don't want to get into a philosophical debate about the evils and arrogances of mankind But If the are wild let them stay wild.

when we were kids we had an absolute menagerie, anything from barn owls to badgers, at one time we had 17 ferrets, 2 dogs, 6 cats, 3 terrapins and some goldfish. I'm tame now, only 4 hens, a dog and 10 fish.

without a doubt Mark, those are ugliest critters I've ever seen. I guess their mum's love 'em though..

Somethin that was, in evolutionary terms, was moving from a fish to a reptile but didnt quite make it. Or was it the other way round. Either way, I'd like to keep one. They have very poor eyesight, my mate fed his by dropping a garden worm right in front of it. Not to be kept with fish though.
