Using Granite Tiles

Hi everyone, I'm tiling an ensuite in a fairly new house with skimmed painted walls. Unfortunately the owner wants to use granite tiles. I know I will have to scrape the paint from the walls and use an acrylic primer with cement-based adhesive. Is there anything I've missed or need to watch out for.

you dont say if the subtrate is boarding or plaster or render mate,or the size of the tile,thickness and the weight,as weight is gonna play a very important factor

If its a fairly new house ,then the tiles may be too heavy for the walls as at a guess the walls will be plasterboard.

Apologies for this but what is the difference between plaster and render- I'm fairly new to the game. The room has obvious stud walls which are plastered and one solid wall also plastered.

also if its a new build, the house will need time to settle before fixing such heavy tiles in my opinion mate

you are gonna have to weigh the tiles mate,weigh 1 then multiply by however many you are gonna fix and calculate the weight plus the weight of the addy and grout,add them together and see what you come up with,then divide total weight into m2,

\what sort of weight can the wall take per sq m.

plasterboard approx 30kg per m2

plaster approx 20kg per m2

so if the weight of ya tiles and addy combined exceed those weights per m2,ya gonna have to think of other options such as backer board or something

my definition would be plaster I.e browning/bonding covered with a thin finishing coat
render would be a sand cement mix,hope this helps you mate
