Hi All,

I am now planning on using Mapei adhesive for my upcoming bathroom tiling. I am using 600x300 porcelain tiles on walss and floor with UFH fitted. I have reboarded most of the old plaster board on the walls and used Aqua Panel where the shower will go. In addition one wall is now 18mm ply. The floor has been overboarded with 12mm ply.

Can I use KeraFlex adhesive on the ply? Or should I use a different adhesive there? I don't want to use KeraQuick as I have no need to rush, in fact I would prefer the longer pot life. I will use Primer G for the plasterboard, but no primer on the aqua panel. What about the ply?

Finally, can you get Ultracolur plus grout in different colours? only have two or three colours and I need it in brown for the floor and white or beige for the walls.

Cheers
Iain

not totally clued up on mapei product but know there grouts are probably the largest colour range, ctd usually stock them!

checked out the mapei link at the top of the page and the keraflex seems fine for floors with ufh!

are you using a self levelling compound over the top? If so, give Mapei Fibreplan a go its good stuff:thumbsup:

the ply on the walls should be tanked as it will eventually swell causing the grout to crack and the tiles to pop off the wall.Personally i would prime the ply and i would use Keraflex Maxi as this can be used for ply and has a pot life of 8hrs.As Davy says ultracolour comes in lots of shades and can also be bought at B and Q,tILEGIANT,tRAVIS PERKINS and ctd.

In addition...i would replace the ply and use cement boards.

If you want a slow setting then deffo kera flex maxi....normal kera flex not suitable...

Brian,
What should I prime the ply with? Will Primer G do, same as for the plasterboard? The ply wall does not have a sink, bath or shower on it. The standalone toilet and a rad are going on the wall, along with a shelf and loo roll holder. Hence the ply, which will make mounting things easy. I will use the Kereflex Maxi for the ply wall and floor and Kereflex for the rest.

Aaron,
I wasn't planning on using SLC. I was just going for a sufficient bed of adhesive. Apart from making the tiling a little easier as you don'e have to watch the cable is there any real advantage?

Cheers

Hi iain, I think for the sake of a bag or two of SLC, protecting the cables and getting a better bedded flatter, floor is advantage enough
