yellow pages offered to do me a webb site to run along side my add in y/p up load up to 20 pictures , 400 words free up dates £600 + £20 per month my current add is £350 so the webb site is £250..........good deal or not?

I wouldn't. I built my site free and can add loads more to it. It's working well for me and hard to beat for free. I have an invoice here for £409 from yell. Lovely.
I built my website through GBBO. I'm not the only one on here with one from them.

personaly i wouldnt touch yellow pages or yell.com i think its a waste of money,i would do your own website

I steer clear of Yell and such likes. I have tried them in the past and never knowingly got anything through them. I always ask clients how they got my name and its usually word of mouth , a tile shop reccomendation or my website. Websites are great but that sounds expensive to me and beware the promises of getting ranked on top. They may once but it needs to be maintained that way, this will probably be an extra they add on.

also to add if you choose the yell.com website what happens if you leave yell.com youir still tied to using them for the site,there is a good sponsor on here for webistes

I used to have an ad in y/p and the only calls I got were from companies trying to flog their stuff and other magazines callenders etc trying to get me to advertise in their publications (some bogus companies)

There's so many places that you can get a free website built or choose a pre-made design, easy to upload new content etc, that I could never recommend someone paying out £600 plus monthly fees.

I was looking at the GBBO web site last night, going to start building one myself as soon as i have decided how to go about it, and what to say on it, and such.
