Hi all

Just a DIY'er, so please be patient with me.

Got a bathroom to tile for my auntie, 2 walls are bonding/browning plaster, and 2 wall are stud with normal plasterboard, all skimmed. The shower will be fulled tiled with 1 side on the bonding/browning wall and the other on the plasterboard, rest of bathroom is having tiles half way.

Now when I've done tiling before, I've used ready mixed stuff from Granfix or Sealocrete, but seen weber on at a good price and wondered if this was better to use, and ok for ceramic wall tiles?

Also planning on tanking the shower area with Mapei Shower waterproofing kit, will this be ok to protect the plasterboard, finished off with Weber Joint Pro Grout in white

Thanks in advance

I just want to make sure I'm reading you correctly.. The bonding does have a finish coat? As long as it has a finish coat, and it's all sound, the adhesive will be fine. You will need to prime the walls with an acrylic primer though.. You should be able to pick some up where you're getting the addy from.. ;)

Ah sozz might of missread ..

I thought that when I read it but looking at it again Andy I think the whole room is skimmed but half is skimmed on plasterboard & the other half is on top if bonding.

I see it states you have used ready mixed before, is it Weber ready mixed you are looking at for this job?
I would be looking at a slow set powder adhesive ideally Weber SPF or Weber set plus.

I would go with a slow set Weber powder too.... Weber.set SPF (single part flexible) in white. You can work with the tile more with powder adhesives. Weber also do a good tanking kit and there acrylic primer PR360 is perfect. Good choice of product, Weber is my preferred choice for 90% of my jobs and i can't fault it.

I was thinking that set.plus was there thickbed adhesive!?! Lol!

HaHa i think that when there stuff says 'plus' it means 'rapid'............. only saying that because Weber.set plus mixed with AD250 then becomes flexible so i have always assumed that the plus must mean rapid :dizzy2:

I know what i mean anyway mate lol

Hi all

Sorry should have been a bit clearer. All walls have been skimmed and not left at bonding/browning stage. The adhesive & grout is powder form as well.

I'm getting the 20kg adhesive at £10+vat and 5kg Weber Joint Pro Grout at £7+vat.
The place where i'm getting these from doesn't do the Weber tanking kit, but does the PR360 primer and Palace Shower Waterproofing kit, will this be suitable?

I guess I only need to prime the surface where tiles will be placed, as half the walls will be painted.

Sounds good to me. Never used the palace tanking though allways gone for bal or mapei.
Only need to prime where your tiling and prime before tanking..

Thanks

Think I'll go for the Mapei tanking kit. Plans have changed slightly and only shower area will be tiled, and the rest painted.
