Westminster - floors

Just nipped home for some lunch and watched the news. I've never really noticed before how "Wow" the floors in Westminster are. Which leads me to ask the following:
How were those types of floors fixed?
How did they get them so perfect over such a vast area?
Are there any companies in the UK still laying / repairing floors such as this?

Any info really appreciated!

Noticed them myself, first class tiling. It's the only thing interesting about Westminster

same as they do in most 5* hotels abroad...they are honed flat/lipless.......

But did they have the equipment to hone and polish when those floors were laid? I'm assuming they are very old - similar to the tiled floors in some cathedrals and churches?
