Wet biscuit

Hi all,

Another newbie error!

I'm on the way to finishing all the tiling in the bathroom. Some of you may remember - I completed the shower first to keep the bathroom running.

I have just discovered a few tiles that have now got a blue hue - I believe this to be from the biscuit getting wet.

The two tiles on the left hand of the picture, in the lowest course to the shower base, is mounted to a solid wall, covered in Ardex wpc before tiling. The other two tiles, one of which is the lowest course, then one up, are mounted to a Wedi boarded stud wall. It is a corner shower - I don't think there are any leaks in the pipe work.

What are my options?

Could it be a grout issue?

Can I dry it out with a dehumidifier if I remove the grout?

What surprises me is if there was a leak or ingress why is a whole tile changed colour not speading onto the surrounding tiles.

I thought that at first, but didn't spot a problem when I first installed. Then I dug out a photo from the time...

Where did you buy the tiles from...

CTD tiles. They are Residence Ceramic blanco brillo I think...

I'm thinking the same as you mark. Out of interest what was behind these two tiles?

I went to the tile shop today - they are going to send round a technician I believe....

Any way, been cracking on today...

Continued the brick-bond layout along the wall above the door and not stop the layout then start again at the door frame as you have

But I followed the pattern along - just cut down the one above the door to suit? This is so the grout lines are constant...

Not arguing, just not entirely sure!

Those tiles are a different batch!

I did think that, but I would have noticed on install or soon after! Plus, the pictures tell a lot!

Just fallen in to what you mean above the door - L shape should have been around the door frame! Doh!!

Never a good idea ending with a full tile because ceilings normally run out...

Its not too bad - I had it skimmed recently... I think it looks ok. For my first full room!

Judging from the pics you'd think its got to be down to the tiles, which could be replaced by 2 fresh tiles in an hour, but if you've got a rep coming out then let him decide best course of action and don't let him fob you off.
I'ts never a good idea to have full tiles to floor and ceiling, not unless you know exactly where your high and low points are, can't remember coming across a bathroom when the floor and the ceiling were 100% level, if its your first full bathroom in your house and your happy crack on.

put level on tiles above door. if level is rocking you made right thing.

As for tiles above door - I might replace them a bit later. How bad will the plasterboard behind be?
