Wet look Travertine

Hi.

I had a Travertine floor tiles laid about 2 months ago and they went really dull after grouting. The tilers did clean them pretty well, but they still look really flat.

Is there any type of seal that I can put on them that will give a wet look appearance.

there are so many sealers on the market that you could find on the shelves which could use that may destroy
a natural stone. pick carefully . first ensure that there is no haze left in the tile. Once you seal it in you wont remove it

Were the tiles polished to start with, and when they grouted the floor what type of grout was used? Also ask them what they were cleaned with.

Hi Ken.

No, the tiles were not polished, they had a rustic effect although they were darker and you could see a lot more of the shading than now.

They grouted the floor with Mapei flexible grout.

I can't find out any info from them for a couple of months as they've gone back home (to Hungary) for a long holiday.

I need to get this done well before they get back.

I'm assuming that they cleaned it off with water.

I wasn't there when they did the job, so I'm not sure.

Ok, now I would give it a deep clean with either LTP Grimex or Fila ps87 before doing anything else and see if it changes the appearance. Let us know how it appears next.
