Hi guys,

I am only asking as I started to remove the tiles from my bathroom walls today and have had a problem.

The tiles are coming off and the adhesive is scraping off with a bit of work, there have been chunks of plasterboard come off as expected too.

The problem is that while hammering my scraper in behind the tiles and prising them away in a couple of places the tiles have stayed put and the plasterboard has been pushed in. I can put my hand inside the holes and feel the isulation it's that big!!

I have only done about a meter square so far and just want to know if there is a magic tool or method I don't know about??

Thanks in advance to all you wise old tilers!! :icon10:

Ok guys this is what i have got. I though about just filling with rapid set but worried it's too big for this!

Does this happen a lot with jobs? Any tips to help avoid this?

if this holescenario happens when you satart your job you must make a decision to rip it off, because if you fart about round tiles that are to come off then you will be doing the job forever,so get tiles off and re-board.BRI:regular_smile:

Yeah i'm think this is a good idea!

I have just looked at the estimate I did and I have worded it as follows

Remove and dispose of old tiles £x

Prepare wall for tiling (assuming walls do NOT need re-plastering) £x

So I have cover myself in the estimate I think, plus I have told her it can happen.

I am probably worrying too much. I just don't want to get a bad rep off my first job.

My first will consist of turning off hot and cold water (somehow!), taking a toilet and sink out, removing old tiles, then possible reboarding or plastering or just small repairs, then retiling and refitting the toilet and sink!

I guess once I have done this I can do most things! lol

Once again thanks for your advice everyone!
