Never heard the expression tbh, but I'd imagine it's a form of brick trowel, most likely a pointing trowel or repair trowel, such as these Marshalltown - Masonry - Pointing Trowels or these Marshalltown - Masonry - Brick Trowels

The names of tools can vary regionaly, and even locally, to the point that you have no idea what it is until you actually see what it is people are talking about. "WTH, that's a tile cutter, not a cutting machine" is one example...

A tipped trowel is a thinbed solid fix trowel...it has small teeth in the main body of the trowel and then a bigger welded tip at either end..

These tips will give a sold bed of adhesive with a toothed comb effect without the combed effect tooth touching the substrate thus leaving a solid bed of adhesive.....they are mainly used for elastomeric adhesives on timber floors...

It is a trowel made by/for BAL specifically for their fastflex adhesive. it has longer 3mm "teeth" at each end of the trowel to attempt to give a solid bed with Fastflex.

They are actually quite common Grumps bal cant take the credit.

They have a hardened metal ball at either end of the blade which regulates the adhesive depth and supposidly doesnt wear down.

Great on a flat floor but of no use on those you generally come across as it wont bring the adhesive to level goes with the contours............

Cheers Tony, only ones I have ever seen were BAL ones, hence my assumption they were a BAL thing.
