Hello all this is my first posting.

Some advice please.
I am a complete novice at tiling and have a small job to do at home.

Entrance hall to be tiled 1.8m x 1.2m - have the tiles already (porcelain).
the floor is concrete? has a few cracks on the the surface which is red in colour, cannot say if its paint or some type of plaster
Also has some damp - but not soaking wet.

My question is which adhesive do the experts out there recommend?
Do I need to pre treat the floor?

Any guidance appreciated

Thanks.

For porcelain you need a flexible adhesive.ie mapei keraquick etc.your surface does not sound good.you need to get the paint off if thats what it is.you need to get the source of your damp sorted.you'll prob need a decoupling membrane to tile onto to save any problems in the future.

Thank you Joe - I had a surveyor look at the floor and he said it was safe to tile on.
Don't even know what a decoupling membrane is, sounds expensive.

I'd recommend mapetex as your anti fracture membrane and I think you need it, also I would put some eco prim grip primer on to existing tiles and mix the keraquick adhesive with latexplus to make it flexible
