What is the most flexible adhesive and grouts on the market?

Hiya guys,

I've just installed a showerlay board, I've got 50mm mosaics to go onto the board, however I'm worried about cracking in the future?

I was thinking of putting a mesh down, like used with renders. What is the most flexible adhesive and grout on the market to give me the best chance and non-failure.

This is what i use Bal single part fast flex! , am not saying its the best , because am sure theirs other great products out their ! I've never had any failures with it, as for grouts bal or mapei !

thats the only down side, its expensive ,im sure i saw it on line somewhere cheaper, try doing an internet search..

just had a quick look, seems you can get it cheaper but then they sting you on the delivery charge.....cant win really..

Having used bal, mapei, gran fix, Ardex and various others over the years, I really can't see by webber set SPF. You will get a 20kg bag of white for around £14 in Ctd.

Do you have to use white adhesive with Marble tiles?

I'd be using Mapei Keraquick adhesive and Mapei Ultracolor Plus grout. Both excellent products IMO. Available from Tile Giant amongst others. Alternatively, BAL Mosaicfix adhesive and BAL Microflex grout are excellent but pricey, especially from Topps. Yes use a white adhesive with a translucent tile like marble.

Next problem I've got, the only fast flex I can find is the in grey

There is such limited choice around my area in East Sussex for tile places other than Sheds & Topps.

If anyone can recommend somewhere in East Sussex I would be more than grateful.

haha! I used it on a ply floor before on my bathroom. Still there and solid 2 years later

This tile malarky seems to have so many variables. Topps do the fast fix in white, but only in 12kg bag for £60!!!!! However, the Mapei Keraquick & latex addy comes in @ £20 from screwfix. I don't know what it is about tiling projects that have me staring at a screen @ 10pm when I want to start the next day haha!

Agree there, the worst adhesive about. White SPF has no grip and tiles still move after 5 hours and floor adhesives have banged before you get the bucket carried back. :lol:

Well I used Mapei Keraquick for the wetroom preformed tray on the mosaics, with latex additive. I then used Granfix flexible for the floors and walls. The Keraquick was nice to work with. Maybe it's something thats nice about what addy.

Yet to put the ultra colour down. Read it's flexible as bal superflex however I want to triple check, Once that stuff is down I don’t want it breaking up on the mosaics.

I've also bought white, not sure if I'm going to stay with that colour.

Thanks for your advice guys, I'll let you know how it works out when I've used the wetroom a few times!!

I use Weber SPF, does a brilliant job. good price with LO Dust Tech & MouldStop.
I have used Bal Fast Flex but it retails at £36 a bag from ABCD Tiles... even though its expensive its does the job and saves any come back.

I used Weber SPF white/grey when flexibility is needed, Bal fastflex is good & has a low come back rate, BUT that is reflected in the price...
