Hi all, for those that may remember me, im starting up as a new tiler, and have asking your advice on all this related. I now have a manual cutter, wet cutter, lazer level and a few other cheap items. But can anybody recommend anything else that i may need that i really cant do without?
Forgot to mention that i have both wall and floor trowels. Thank you for your info, wouldnt be where i am now without it

What stage are you at in starting up?

Well apart from the odd bits and pieces i need, its going to just be getting customers i suppose. I currently am working but not as a tiler yet. I am getting exerience by doing friends and familys houses at weekends, but only very small jobs

Word of mouth takes time. You've got to build up a good reputation. Other options would be a leaflet drop, local rag/mag, Gumtree & sign writing on your van. Even if you have no work, park your van at your local tiling shop, B&Q, Wikes etc. free advertising is the best. Stay away from these rated trade sites. They are rubbish & rob you blind. You could also reg on Jobsorted/Trade UK for free.

I have made up a load of buisness cards, which i have been dotting around shops etc. Do you think i should advertise or is it more word of mouth?

Word of mouth is free and usually best. A website is good if done correct.
Stay away from companies that call you up and offer you work for a fee etc .
