Word of mouth takes time. You've got to build up a good reputation. Other options would be a leaflet drop, local rag, Gumtree & sign writing on your van. Even if you have no work, park your van at your local tiling shop, B&Q, Wikes etc. free advertising is the best. Stay away from these rated trade sites. They are rubbish & rob you blind. You could also reg on Jobsorted/Trade UK for free.

what tiling jobs have you done so far?

I got interested in tiling working for a mate in the tiling trade doing nursing homes bathrooms, not had any 'real' customers yet, but have done my own house, familys, and friends, that is it really

i get quite a bit of work off yell, most old folk aren't internet savvy, and they seem to be the only ones with money to spend ....lol

Are you confident in pricing jobs, dealing with customers etc? Remember, presentation is everything! You may be higher priced than others but if your presented well, 9 times out of 10 they will go with you. Professional looking quotes & invoices (Not the back of a *** packet), A uniform (Not jeans & t-shirt), answer your phone, arrive when you say you will & be polite. It goes a long way!

Each to there own. I couldn't take on the demand plus I don't see why I should pay for work when I get it for free lol. The calls from Yell drive me up the wall. Now I just bam them up

Not dealt with customers as yet, so that area i am complete amature. But i have trousers, pads and have polo shirts on order with name as logo. My bro inlaw is a web designer so that is going to be a big advantidge, but lack in photos, so may have to design that at later stage.

Just remember, be confident in what your talking about. Do your homework before viewing. Get as much info over the phone as you can. It takes time & unfortunately money to gain your experience. Always price for worst case scenario. If that work doesn't need done, you can always remove it from the final balance.

What training have you had? there,s a lot more than you think anybody can just start up ,you need a lot of experience and knowledge,try to get work with tilers in your area,walk before you run.
