What plasterboard to use for travertine?

I would use moisture shield plaster board as it can take more weight than standard board.
I would also use a tanking kit for the shower area.
Check weight of tiles M2 before using any.

HardieBacker is a great product to put in a wet area when tiling, and don't forget it will hold up to 100kg/sq meter. Its perfect for a job using heavy tiles.
