What products should be used Bathroom please

Builder has plastered some walls in new bathrooms (those I just want to paint) and left plasterboard on other walls where I want my porcelain tiles. Some of these plasterboard walls will be in shower enclosure. I've read load of threads and know that you professionals have favourite products...but what products would you expect Tiler be using for prep, adhesive and grout....particularly in showers?

Prime the areas to be tiled then I would tank the shower walls, use a single part flexible adhesive and flexible grout.

Hi and welcome..

I would expect the tiler to be using a C2TE or a C2TF cement based adhesive and an Anti mould flexible grout....

The plaster board is spot on for tiling to and if you have any issues regarding the shower area, then ask your tiler to water proof the walls to stop water ingression..

As above. Seal all internal corners with a quality Silicon and where tile meets bath/shower.

BAL is good ye but there are others that do not cost as much... Use the brand that your tiler is used to using.

Could someone be more specific as to the products they would use please? I would like to be able to order the products myself (on-line). Can't get over how brilliant this forum is for a numpty nontiler like me.

Personally i use Mapei adhesives..

Any tile giant store will sell you these..

Mapei P9 for the walls or maybe mapei mapeker just depends how fast he tiles as to which one to use.
And grout would be either mapei FF grout or Mapei Ultra colour.

Just had a look at the Tile Giant website and found a shop in Derby. Mapei do a shower waterproofing product. Would this be used instead of primer please? Think my questions are not stretching you much!...but answers very useful to me

Primer is not a tanking system, it isolates the surface from the adhesive

Thanks for that...so Tiler will need Primer, Tanking (mapei showerproofing), adhesive (mapei P9), grout (mapei FF) and Silicon

If you are supplying, yes, if the tiler supplies it may be different makes.
