I have just fitted 300 x 600 x 10 glazed porcelain tiles with straight cut (unglazed) edges into my ensuite. The room has a window sill, which I have tiled with the same tiles. Hence the tile edges are on show. We didnt like the idea of using tile edging strips to finish the edges, as nothing suited our tile. So as the tile had a straight cut edge I decided I preferred it to be on show. I found that if I wet the edge of the tile it darkens the cut porcelain and masks the machining marks in the edge of the tile. This is the perfect effect I am after. Of course this isn't a permanent effect as the edge dries and so will need sealer for a more permanenet affect. Please can someone recommend a sealer that will create the affect I want i.e. darken the porcelain, mask the machine marks and not have a 'varnished look'. There are so many surface sealers out there and I am sure some will darken the tile edge and others will not.
I have considered LTP colour intensifier and stain block. Would this be suitable? Any one used this? Is it a good sealer.
Many thanks in advance for any advise given.
