BAL Pourable Thick Bed

A cement-based, polymer modified, rapid-setting, water-resistant, frost-resistant floor tile adhesive. Light grey, sulphate-resistant, pourable, thick-bed solid-bed floor tile adhesive suitable for fixing ceramic tiles, quarries, natural stone and terrazzo in interior and exterior situations. The consistency makes it particularly suitable for fixing large tiles and those with profiled backs. Back-buttering is not necessary. Suitable for use on concrete, cement:sand screeds, ceramic/quarry tile/terrazzo/hard natural stone, vinyl tile/sheet bases, mastic asphalt. Conforms to BS EN 12004, Type C, Class 1F.

NOTE: The physical properties of BAL POURABLE THICK BED can be enhanced by the addition of BAL ADMIX AD1. With a classification of BS EN 12004, Type C, Class 2F.

well i am sure a multi million pound company who test and produce would know slightly more than a self taught merchant like your good self pjc hmmmm let me think, bal or 1, 109 post pete lol lol lol there you go , i sound like you now..i am sure you know your stuff pete, but dont fall into the trap of all the old timers who think they know it all. science over opinion every time!!

check out the pdf file on ardex 7001 which tells you to use 8mm notched trowel before you tell me i should give up tiling. it isnt me starting threads on how to spread adhesive or how to mark lines on floors if you are on your own. if you are a newbie fair do's but dont come on here telling people they shouldnt be tiling if you dont know what you are talking about.

If the tiles are flat enough, and the substrate is flat enough, there is nothing wrong with using 8mm square notched on 600x300mm tiles. Really. It's about the coverage/contact between the tiles and the substrate. If it's full or very near full with an 8mm trowel, there is little sense in using a trowel with larger notches.
