What tile allowance to you give for cutting and breakage?

I was told 10% mate but i say 15% for natural due to things like variation in colour and thickness. what about you?

Minimum 10%. If they are natural stone tiles then I'd perhaps opt to get more too just in case!

10% but for some of the larger tiles now probably 15% depending on the amount of cutting required but the setting out is a major choice to cut down wastage.

Do you tend to find the large formats always need more?

The porcel-thin need a bit more working out due to the size, I'm always checking where the waste can be used like window reveals etc but sometimes in smaller rooms it's really difficult.

Breakages, what are they?
Large format, typically rough set out in my head and count the tiles. Leave in the odd door or window if it's walls and if there's a corner or a staircase in the floor that u can pretend is not there then I find it normally covers it, oh and a box for luck of course! That normally gives them a few spares that I insist they need! Not very scientific but works in the domestic scene for me. Wouldn't work on a large contract job tho I fear haha

well if its a floor about 10% if its walls that are 2400 or below about 10% as most tile modules work full tile top and bottom ie 300x300 400x400 800x800 600x1200 if the ceiling hight goes to 2500 2600 then allow 15% as there will be higher wastage

About 10%, but round up. I always tell customers that they can return full boxes of tiles, however the customers that buy online are the most penny pinching ones. They order exactly the correct amount of tiles. When they have to re-order a single extra box they then get miffed that they are hit with a high courier charge. I always have it in writing exactly how many metres are required
