Hi peeps,I'll make it quick,the tile company have put me on a metre rate,I've been on a metre rate for 6 months now,I thinks he want to put me back on a day rate,can he that?

how different are the rates py rookie when you balance out your normal jobs

if its not much in it maybe just have a discussion with him there may well be a valid reason ie, maybe he needs to make a better profit

I suppose it depends how much difference it will make to your pay. If it's a huge difference then you may need to come to some sort of arrangement. At the end of the day, at least you will still have a job.

okay i would imagine hes maybe finding it hard himself if your going through lean periods of work but i dont know him maybe best discussing things with him,, at least you have employment just now i know no one likes a wage drop but plenty people are taking hits just now .

If you have a contract of employment this will outline your conditions of service. Your employer cannot change these at will unless you consent to them doing so. Most employees would not fight such changes partly because they do not know the law and partly because of fear of losing their job. However you need to be certain of your position if you choose to fight it.

Agree with Ajax here, if your contract states per metre rate then he needs to discuss and get your agreement to change it. If in doubt get advice, try Citizens Advice.
