What to include in the quote

Never normally have problems with doing quotes but i'm a bit stuck on the one i'm off to do tonight. Its to take tiles off a shower cubicle (3 walls) fix new backer board, tile and fit shower door. I reckon if things go smoothly it'll be a days work so i would charge a days rate. Within that i normally include adhesive and grout.
I'm going to add on the cost of the backerboard but because he wants it fitted, tiles taken off and the doors fitted i was going to charge extra for all that, but not exacly how sure how much to charge!
Reckon including all materials it will be a little over a day and a halfs rate.
Just checking you guys would do the same?

without hesitation! though i do always explain this to the customer it usually lets them understand where you got your price from and assures them your notat the fiddle

I would explain that i dono what i'm gony find or what state the wall will be in once the tiles are removed so the estimate may need to be altered to suit but you will show them what needs done before you go ahead with it.

Try this,
1)All quotations given may be subject to variations in costs that are beyond our control.
Any quotation given will remain valid for a period of 30 days from the date of issue. After this period,"Your company" reserves the right to amend or withdraw the quotation without any liability.
2)A charge will be made for work, travelling expenses and other reasonable disbursements (other than those already quoted for) which are incurred due to any unforeseen circumstances caused by the customer. Further to this, if a change to an agreement is made, any previously agreed quotation will become null and void.
3)When quotations are supplied from measurements made by us, we will add 10 % extra for cuts and breaks that may occur during installation. If more tiles are consequently needed to complete your project, they will be charged at normal current prices plus any carriage charge necessary.

i normally give an hourly rate for prep work if it includes ripping out and re-boarding as you can't always tell what you may find. Then it's metreage rate once I'm tiling:gettree:

personally i give a customer a breakdown of costs


personally i would list everything you need to do PRIOR to tiling,set a price for that
then set a price for your tiling
list all materials to be used
then add a clause that states "any extra work to be undertaken because of any hidden damages etc will be at customers expense and that you will let the customer know of any extra work to be undertaken and agree a further price before beginning work"
get the customer to sign this before beginning any work,i always do this,it stops customers haggling and trying to get freebies

whats the going rate per meterage?

my rate varies mate,ceramic,porcelain,marble quartz etc,large or small format,how much cutting involved etc,but anywhere from £20 m2 for ceramics
