Both have their place. Am leaning to loose cable at minute due to shape of rooms I'm doing but I haven't discounted matting altogether.

Mats are fine for big rooms as they eat up the space quicker..loose cable is ideal for awkward shaped rooms like galley kitchens and bathrooms...etc.......dave....
