recently i have been working at glanford park , home of scun-thorpe utd
was there sat morn when commercial manager approached me would i bi interested in tiling all the old toilet blocks around the ground, we would like you to price for them and cut out the contractor i have been working for

probs about 200 m2 , i told him i do a lot of work for the said company and would,nt like to poach is work , told them you can approach him and tell him what your planing or i will speak to him and see if he as a problem with it

just wondering what you think

I wouldn't go behind main contractors back mate, tell him what's occurred and judge his reaction.

As above Rob, that could lose you alot of future work and a good contact. Better to be honest, could even price it and offer him 10% or something like that. Definately discuss it with him first.

The guy you sub contract for would obviously appreciate your honesty which would hopefully strenghten the working relationship you have. I agree that it would be best not to go behind his back but it easier for me to say this as Im not in your position matey.

i told my guy that i had been approached by the client for the other tiling works, he was very pleased that i had told him , and admired my honesty. he said i cant believe they have gone behind my back ,ive bailed them out on this job ,as other contractor went bust + i also sponsor match days

You've done the right thing, but if this is now gonna cause friction between the two and the main contractor isn't going to do the work anymore, then I would suggest you are then free to quote for the work.
