whats best to use when priming surfaces ?

Hi

Just going back to tiling on a part time basis after having been away from it for a while. Can anyone tell me what the best product is to use priming/bonding surfaces prior to tiling. I am about to start tiling some outside steps. The have just been screeded. Do i need to prime this surface prior to tiling ? I am hearing conflicting views. Also, what is the best product to use to prime ply prior to tiling ?

Check with the manufacturers instructions about priming with their adhesive, some say yes and some no to priming...

For outside steps, I'd always prime the surface to try and prevent moisture ingress.

You say they have just been screeded, with sand and cement? How thick is the screed? You'll need to make sure it's fully dried out before tiling.

what product do you use ? Do you use the same product when tiling over cement/concrete and wood ? or different product for each surface ?

stairs ae fully dries out, screed approx 30mm thick ( cement ). What product would you recommend and can i use the same product when priming over ply or plasterboard ?
