After spending the best part of an hour removing the curly plastic stuff from the tiles , I was wondering has it got a name ????

Ha yes mate wax it's to stop the tiles scratching each other in transit. Hence the name transit wax

so how do you do yours....

scrape the wax off then tile..

or tile then scrape the wax off..

i prefer to do it before fixing scraping it into a bucket, keeps the mess in one place..

The only time I like tiling in the cold.....when the wax comes off easily. Hate the stuff!!!!

I tile first then scrap off with a scrapper when all the tiling is done but I couldn't tell you the amount of times when I've scrapped it off with my fingernail and it's got stuck under my nail:yikes: I know I shouldn't but sometimes it's just instinct

Can be a pain, I use an old credit card to remove it, if it's on face of the tile, nice to hear how other pro's clean it off.

sponge the tiles down so they are wet then scrape it off, i feel it peels of a bit easier

scraper for me but ihave also used my nails ahhhh ouuuch when it goes down your nail :yikes: soon pick scraper back up ha ha ha

A customer saw me doing it scraping it off into a bucket. 600 10x10s to do, each with 2 strips of wax. She was off work and decided it looked therapeutic and did them all for me.

If you notice as well, dependant on which way you scrape it, it either pings off in one piece or it breaks and takes a few scrapes to get off.

Builders here favour a folding rule over a tape measure for some reason, I even started using it more than a tape and they're great for scraping off the stuff. Or I use what's closest to hand, plastic wedge, bit of wood, back of the stanley blade. Can relate to all the stories above about it either pinging off or chipping off in bits and especially the getting it under nails. Not just me then.
