whats the best grout float?

Love the Marshall town, none better imho for cleaning off the excess grout, pity the don't last 5 minutes

I've had two vitrex ones in 6 years! And it's my fault for breaking this one. Forgetting to clean it, then hitting it with a trowel to get the grout off isn't a good idea.

Marshalltown just don't last the crack, peels off after a couple of jobs. Gota sigma grout float for the first time a couple of weeks ago, the rubber comes off so you only need to replace it and keep the handle when its done, dont know how long the rubber lasts but so far so good :smilewinkgrin:

Use the Ragni find it ok just like to know how do you hold your float I put my fingers thru the handle and grip the edge find you get more pressure and leverage than holding the handle.in the 70s used to make your own a strip of rubber nailed in two bits of skirting then along came the first float which was a Marshalltown.

I,ve been using these for the past few months they were ordered in error ,but they take everything off and they last for a good few jobs .
I think they only cost a couple of pound too.

I remember making my own like that. Working in industrial places it was common to see the rubber push both way doors with bits missing from the bottom, taken by tilers.:lol:

Am i right in thinking that a softer float for walls and a harder float for floors? Obviously depending on material finish to avoid scratching tile faces

Soft float for walls and floors with cement based grouts and a hard float for epoxy.

I bought one from Screwfix and has lasted me for year and half at least. Maybe more. Not sure what make it is but its blue handle and dark base!!!!! works for me :smilewinkgrin:
