Apologies did not read initial post correctly. For me, match the broken joint of the tiles above and below and 1/2 bond the dado.

nice work mate. I must admit though,in guilty of persuading customers to my way of thinking,they do often have silly ideas up my way

they have the same ideas down here too............sometimes it is easier to do what they want and just get on with it!!!!.......hehheeheheheeee

its always easier lee but that don't make it right but i know what your saying!
 
Would definitely line the dado with tile below then continue the above tile in broken bond. Just doesn't look right at all when the tile above and below the border are in line.
