which cutter?

being a newbe can anyone shed some light on why its advisable to have an overhead rail cutter such as the rubi ts 50 over an electric wet saw??

i know i know i can hear the tutting however we all had to start somewhere

you want both

its horses for courses and depends what you have got coming up

its quicker and easier to make straight cuts with a rail cutter

but other cuts are easier on a wet cutter

hence having both

you have to start somewhere and buy the best you can afford

the big clinker sold by topps is supposed to be good value for money, though ive never owned one

ive had a plasplugs wet cutter for years and it works ok but the guide rail is rubbish so you end up free cutting

build your kit up as you can afford it and before you know it you will have a sigma and a dewalt

I bought a brevetti montolit mini'master when i started out 2 years ago. It will cut 35mm pavers at nearly a metre long and mitre's. Absolutely brilliant saw, just 1 drawback it cost £900

General rule of thumb is rail cutter for 'normal' straight cuts, and wet saw for 'L shape' or check cuts. Wet saw would be a very slow way of cutting straight cuts, and wouldn't leave as good a finish.

you ideally need both,unless you have a drill set then you may need to cut small curves for pipes or occasionally cut round toilet pans,this would obviously be impossible with a rail cutter,but using the rail cutter will be much faster doing straight cuts

wet cutters (or an angle grinder) are a "must" for stone tiles

No such thing as not enough tools.
Buy what you can when you can afford it and always try for the best.
That may not be true 100% of the time, but damn close from my experience.
