which smartphone?

i'm going to upgrade from my 2 yr old samsung tocco to a smartphone but i don't know which one so i'm after your help folks. i don't want to spend too much, around 20 to 25 a month, i've seen a few , samsung galaxy s, galaxy ace and htc wildfire, i don't need much data included as i don't plan on using it much during the day and i have wi-fi at home. thanks

The samsung and HTC phones have good feedback from friends of mine who have them, Iphone 3gs might be an option on that budget especially if you upgrade with your current network. Whatever you do DON'T get a blackberry, they are pants.

You can get the iphone 3 for as little as £21 on contract and the phone free, the 4 is a lot more if you want it free.

i can't justify paying £40 for an iphone, i'm not a gadget freak like some on here, i just wish i could upgrade my tocco but all phones are either blackberries or smartphones. i wouldn't get a blackberry bri, my son has one, you need fingers like a child to press the buttons. anyone got any of the 3 phones i mentioned in the first post?

I have to disagree about the key pad on the Blackberry. I have large fingers and dont have issues with the keypad.
Best phone I have had to date but who knows what I will get next.

I find iphones are pony to use as a phone... i had the 3g, 3gs and now the 4... They ALWAYS let me down when I need them! but I still buy them!

GREAT toy! Great apps etc... 32gig hold loads of films/music

I can also control all my music around the house

I know you say you're not a gadget freak and you don't need much data but until the real smartphones came out like the blackberrys and iPhones then i never used the internet on them as they were a pain in the arse but once you have a quick web browser on your phone you'll find you'll use it all the time for business. Mine gets used at least 4 or 5 times a day if i'm on site, getting numbers, making orders, showing clients options...

I know you're on a cheap deal now and don't want to go overboard but even if you spent £40 a month you'd see that money back with productivity in your business 10 fold. I spend £70 a month on my phone deal and even though that is quite a lot of money as far a traiffs go it is still a bargin with what it allows me to do and in the end it saves me money without a doubt.

i understand where you're coming from cr, looking at the deals on here it looks like i'll have to up my budget/tariff, i'll phone o2 tomorrow to see if they'll offer me a better deal than what's on the net. i don't really want to change network

After nine months with O2, you can reduce your contract if you wish to the next lower tariff and you can do this every month until you are on their minimum tariff. Just a tip if you think you find your not using all your minutes.
