which ufh do you recommend?

i'm tiling a 60 m2 kitchen diner next week for a friend, which ufh do you recommend? i've used the warmup type several times but it works out expensive on a floor this size. i remember being told some time ago you can order direct off the manufacturer but i cant remember which company. thanks in advance

I think it's every 5 meters on floors. Not sure if it's just floors longer than 10. Wait for some of the pro's to advise on that before you do anything mate.

i advised him to put insulation boards under but he doesnt want to raise the floor too much above the floor level of the rest of the house.

This is madness. 10mm insulation will significantly improve the efficiency of the UFH and is a very minor compromise. Floor height differences can easily be lost with the use of a door transition strip IMO.

Needs an expansion joint in the middle of that run..so about 6.5 mtrs..

i have told him but there would be about a half inch difference with boards under. he can afford the extra electric so i dont think he'll change his mind, but i'll try!

It's not just the extra cost Mike, it's the speed with which the floor / room attains heat and the slowing down of the cool down rate too. For me, the performance is just as important as the running costs.

i fully understand and agree with you and as i previously said i recommended insulation boards to him and i will try again. the house is fully insulated tho, was built only 8 yrs ago to a high spec, including kingspan under the concrete, i know this as i mixed all the concrete with 2 mixers on the go (nearly killed me as the floor is about 200 m2):smilewinkgrin:
