I am tiling a shower which I have waterproofed. The shop gave me a ready mix and since have found out this is wrong and was adviced on this forum to use Mapei P9. Which i'm having problems getting hold of before the weekend. However I took back the ready mix and they have given me a bag of Norcross Rapid Stone & Porcelain Tile Adhesive.
The tiles are mosaics dark opaque glass and metal squares. The addy they have given me is white as that is all they had.
My questions are:
1. Would the white be okay, I would have preferred grey but as that is all they had I took it, but if the advice is, don't use white, then I'll have to find a bag of grey Mapei P9. If so, please don't worry about the next question.
2. Would the addy be okay to use on a dunlop waterproofed wall with quick set render? I have pasted the specs below on the addy.
Norcros Rapid Porcelain & Stone Tile Adhesive is a white cement based thin bed adhesive designed for fixing fully vitrified porcelain, ceramic and natural stone tiles to a variety of building surfaces. It is a water and weather resistant and is suitable for both internal and external locations. It has a setting time of 3 hours permitting early trafficking of the tile installation. Containing unique Rock Tile polymeric binders the enhanced flexibility of the adhesive allows a greater range of fixing possibilities normally only achieved by the addition of separate admixtures.
The adhesive has excellent thermal ageing properties and is particularly suitable for heated floors and prepared plywood sheets.
Thanks for any advice, and sorry for keep posting, much better than the job going wrong. And learning all the time

using different adhesives and waterproofing kits is in itself ok....not great but ok. the reason for this is that each company ie dunlop etc will guarantee their products as long as the correct operating procedures are followed ie to be used in conjunction with their products so by mixing the 2 technically should the tiling they will point to the fact that you have used a different addy/waterproofing than theirs so the guarantee no longer applies.
as to the adhesive itself are you worried about it showing through the grout lines or are the tiles translucent? and as above what colour grout are you using?

Problem is that the waterproofing is Dunlop and as far as I can tell from Screwfix, they only have a tub mix, no dry. So well confused with that one?

Dave, thanks for that, I was just reading something about that a second ago. Sorry what do you mean by rib the wall?

Use your 4mm serrator and comb the adhesive into ribs.. ok.. then flatten off..(smooth) this gives an even bed of adhesive and a flat bed of adhesive so no ribs show through and any darkening of the mosaics is even..

dunlop will guarantee their product only if it is used with dunlop adhesive....and vice versa,

should the tiling fail and you need to have them look at why they will say that it is due to using a unspecified product with thiers.

this is only if you have problems later down the line.
