White (or not quite..) polished porcelain - what grout colour?

Hi all

We're redoing our ensuite bathroom (no natural light) using TileHQ (great service from them, by the way) white polished porcelain 300x600 tiles on the wall and tilesporcelain (not such great service...) black quartz 300x300 tiles on the floor, with black quartz mosaic tiles in the wetroom area. Our tiler is very keen on using grey grout for the floor (he thinks black grout looks washed out very quickly) and is also suggesting grey grout on the walls with the polished porcelain. Does anyone have any photos of these combinations? Also he uses Bal grout and the only options seem to be white (which is whiter than the tile) or Ivory (which is darker). I'm really looking for a seamless look and wanted exactly the same grout colour (off-white). Any suggestions as to a good match?

think i would go along with your tiler ,we are not always right but do see a lot of different tiles and bathrooms could he not do you a little sample as grout always looks different when fully dried

You can get sampled grout boards where you can see the colours when they are dry.

Also Mapei has a huge range of grout colours, perhaps worth mentioning.

Though I too think black fades to dark grey quite quickly.

if he only uses bal grouts then yes the bal black grout dose tend to dry dark grey and is prone to efflorences, i would go with grey, however i wouldn't go grey on the walls, ask him to get some bal grout swatches and im sure there will be one to match your tiles..

Hi Jill ask your tiler if he has the bal micro-tec grout colour swatch they have several colours in their grout range, if it were my job I would show you the Mapei and Ardex grout colours as they have the best colour palletes available imo

or they could go with charcoal wich is next to black (darkest grey possible) or antracite
