My eldest 'lad' is 74, but wants to 'slow down a bit' now, but the lad who was my eldest was 83 but passed away a couple of weeks ago, he did all the fiddly stuff in the yard for me, and could mend any machine or power tool that was handed to him. I really miss sitting out there having a coffee with him at 10.00, because he would never come inside even in the winter to have a cuppa. When it was really cold we used to sit on a couple of 20mm marble tiles that I had warmed up on the radiator over night...kept our bums warm!

the other halfs grandad is approaching 80 and still does most of the families joinery work from laying hardwood floors to fitting a kitchen in the flat i rent,we try to bypass him because of his age but gives the puppydog eyes when he thinks you are getting someone else to do it
