Some while back i was asked to quote on a floor (or 3 floors to be precise) . They were to have UFH (electric) and i recommended insulation boards. I priced the whole job up, based on "Warm up" products but also got them another quote from WetDecs. I suggested 10mm insulation and worked out finished floor level heights for them. I took all measurements from the drawing supplied and sent off the quotes.
All was well until the builder said he wouold buy the materials as he is Vat registered and wanted to save money. That was ok by me, i would have preferred to supply but thats the way it is. I was then asked or i offered to to go to site to measure up for the final time before they ordered the UFH and Insulation boards. on arriving the drawings were nothing like what i saw. There were base units everywhere and free standing appliances. So i re measured and gave them the details.
The materials were duly ordered and are due on site tomorrow (Wednesday). I thought i would just call the tile shop up to make sure it was all ok even though i am not supplying anything and they said yes the van was loaded, Tiles, Adhesive, Grouts, UFH, No More Ply .....???? WHOA !! " whats the no more ply for?" i asked. " thats the insulation board " they said. "is it 10mm"? i asked ...."No, its 6mm" .
Now to cut the story a little shorter, it seems the builder asked for the materials and never insisted on Warm Up boards. The shop said that No More Ply was the same. I wasnt convinced and for the last hour i have spoke to the shop several times, the builder twice and even someone from No More Ply. I have had it confirmed from No More Ply that even though their boards will act as some form of insulation it will not be the same as "Warmups".
Now i have sold the whole idea about using the insulation boards to the customer and used the info obtained from "Warmup"s website about heat loss etc and thats what the customer expects.
The shop are standing by the fact that i will have no problems with the boards they are supplying and i believe that but i also believe that the client wont be getting what they expect in terms of product and performance.
So as it stands now, the builder is seeing if he can source some "Warmup" boards in time for Thursday and the van with all materials will stay at the shop.
Why do i bother? afterall it was all taken away from me and all i had to do was provide labour.
I am truly peeved:furious3:, So do you think i have the right to rant at all involved?
