why is the fein multimaster so crap..

i think he has got a point about the blades i find that they dont last long at all and are very expensive i do think that the multimaster is a really useful tool i have been buying the bosch blades and altering the to fit my fein tool they last longer than the fein replacement blades imo

I love the Fein but I too have had some blades that just blunt straight away when I try to cut screws,they shouldn't do that for that price.

Used mine today for re-grout and np's apart from the blades dying. Had good use outta them though,but still to dear.

Never had a problem with my multimaster - does exactly what I want every time. I do agree that the replacement blades and attachments are very expensive though.

The fein is very good but the blades that come with it are crap...to give you an idea i'm working on a regrouting job at moment used the carbide blade that comes with the tilers kit got through 2m2 of grout and it was a gonna.

Had to order a diamond blade special delivery to get job finished tmw. Now if that one doesn't last i won't be happy can't see the customer paying more than 60 a pop for blades, might end up being cheaper to retile!

u should have got much more than that Freed. Were u forcing it to blunt it. I just let the fein work with just a little pressure and it will last a lot longer.

Maybe i was pushing a little to hard....but i'm sure those carbide blades are short life i recommend any1 whos got a large job to take along a few of them or buy a diamond one otherwise ure going to be waiting 10 minites per 5cm of grout line for blade to eat the grout!

Just got my Fein today. £152.50 brand new inc. postage from ebay shop. Good price. So far, very impressed. I'd never heard of it, until I joined this forum. Wish I'd had one years ago, it does a lot of awkward things, that doing any other way is a pain.

So far, its a success. However, I must say the manual is really poor. There is no real description about which tool to use for which job. I find that a great shame. It means I have to trial and error each blade. And already I have worn the adhesive removing blade, by trying it on some hard grout. Sure - shouldn't have used it for that - but nothing in the manual says I shouldn't. I just wanted to clean the end of a tile run on the floor, because they are having carpet laid upto the join. It was doing the job fine, but was worn on one side. Tried the carbide blade next the circular one. That seemed to cut - but slowly. Did the job, but not that speedily. Perhaps again, that's not the right attachment for that task. But removing the grout by using a hammer and bolster was damn hard work and risked chipping the tile edge - so it is still an improvement.

Used the blade to cut some old coving, I was installing some new stuff joining the old, in my own house. Difficult to cut into the existing using any kind of saw. However the Fein did a superb job. Also tried the scraper over some wood filler, took the top of it off beautifully.

So far - impressed. I think I just need to learn more about which blade does what.

Which is the HSS blade? Should that be in my TOP kit? I think its the wood/metal blade that is in there. Do I need to buy an HSS blade as an extra? And which blade is the grout removal blade? The carbide one - or is it the other funny circular one?

the circular saw blade i felt was pretty brittle ,either that or it wasnt in the slots properly ,so make sure you get the blade in the slots guys.I agree with you all the blades are expensive but back to the original quote...its not crap is it!

I think my fein is great too lads,
blades are too expensive but so are a lot of tools lately,
mine gets lots of use mostly cutting the bottoms off architrives,
the only prob with this is hitting the wall and blunting the blade etc so i bought the solution !!!!!!!!!!!!! yes.
I bought a fein depth stop from TT and works a bloody treat,
i have it screwed tight to my fein and is doing a great job protecting my new blades from TT too,(expensive though,lol).

I use my fein everyday and it is really good, i use it to cut the bread for my sandwiches, spread the butter, cut the cheese then i put it back in its box, never worn a blade out yet...well im only cutting cheddar havent used it on whole meal bread as im worried it will wear the blades out to quick...:lol:

Nice piece of Kit! Greatm for stone edges and edge polishing in situ. Also brilliant for cleaning the area when you have to remove single tiles

i have to say that its more the blades that are crap. the multimaster is a very good tool but a bit under powered.
