In Coventry I use to pay 6-7 pounds for my windows to be done once every two weeks (I think the guy was claiming benefits)

I just called a few window cleaners up and they charge 20 pounds or so, anyone know how I can clean them without getting on a ladder. I think over 400 pounds a year for clean windows is a bit much.

I looked on Amazon and the telescopic tools have v.poor ratings. Thanks :)

There really isn't a decent way to clean windows without getting right in front of the window, there are plenty of 'innovations' that let you do it from the ground (telescopic) from the inside (magnets - bit like the fishtank cleaners) but all of them leave streaks. How many windows do you have? and are there just ground and first floor? and do you really need them done every two weeks? at different times of the year and depending where you live it could take 4-6 weeks before they are dirty

thats the going rate around here

my mate earns £30 plus per hour

i do my own

i use unger gear

they do a telescopic pole but its not easy to use and you cant wipe the sills

if you find someone that uses a pure water system they will only need doing twice a year

google windowcleanersforum and ask on there

ps they dont like people knowing about the above as it costs them work and will probably say two months max between cleans

£3 per month and they need cleaning each month as i live on a main road.

this amazes me from a purely business view

how many windows does he hae to clean to service his overheads

he will be working till wednesday every week before he can pay himself

and then he needs to make a profit

isurance is high because of the risk of a fall from a ladder and entering other peoples properties all day long

to clean a house properly takes about 20 mins as you need to wipe down frames and cills

anything less is just a wipe over

allow time between jobs and your around the ten pound an hour mark

if that

i help my mate out sometimes if he falls behind due to bad weather

i thought it was a great earner till he want through the costs

20 sobs a house is reasonable

im better off doing what im doing
