In Coventry I use to pay 6-7 pounds for my windows to be done once every two weeks (I think the guy was claiming benefits)

I just called a few window cleaners up and they charge 20 pounds or so, anyone know how I can clean them without getting on a ladder. I think over 400 pounds a year for clean windows is a bit much.

I looked on Amazon and the telescopic tools have v.poor ratings. Thanks 🙂

There really isn't a decent way to clean windows without getting right in front of the window, there are plenty of 'innovations' that let you do it from the ground (telescopic) from the inside (magnets - bit like the fishtank cleaners) but all of them leave streaks. How many windows do you have? and are there just ground and first floor? and do you really need them done every two weeks? at different times of the year and depending where you live it could take 4-6 weeks before they are dirty

try these:lol:

I've got windows that are built to slide from side to side in their own tracks on all my upstairs windows so I don't need a window cleaner. All the opening windows can slide across so I can get to the outside glass without having to be outside the window.

Have you got upvc windows bunny?

thats the going rate around here

my mate earns £30 plus per hour

i do my own

i use unger gear

they do a telescopic pole but its not easy to use and you cant wipe the sills

if you find someone that uses a pure water system they will only need doing twice a year

google windowcleanersforum and ask on there

ps they dont like people knowing about the above as it costs them work and will probably say two months max between cleans

If you take a picture of the window I can tell you if they are tilt and turn like Liz suggests, if they are there will be a small latch to release the window in the frame drainage channel

Have you not seen the TV advert?? Invest in a trampoline.......bounce up, wipe, down, bounce up, wipe, down......

It'll keep you fit too

PS I pay £7 for a clean once a month, upstairs and down

Blimey £3!!! that's cheap! that barely pays the petrol or do you only have 1 window?

Windows cleaners round here charge around the £15-20 mark for a say 3 bed semi

6 Panes inc the side windows by front door .......and Window cleaner lives next door

£3 per month and they need cleaning each month as i live on a main road.

this amazes me from a purely business view

how many windows does he hae to clean to service his overheads

he will be working till wednesday every week before he can pay himself

and then he needs to make a profit

isurance is high because of the risk of a fall from a ladder and entering other peoples properties all day long

to clean a house properly takes about 20 mins as you need to wipe down frames and cills

anything less is just a wipe over

allow time between jobs and your around the ten pound an hour mark

if that

i help my mate out sometimes if he falls behind due to bad weather

i thought it was a great earner till he want through the costs

20 sobs a house is reasonable

im better off doing what im doing

£3:50.. and a 4 bed house.. thats 9 windows, 2 doors and a set of french doors...

£20... U avin a laff..... i

I pay £5.

That means I dont have to get the ladders out, up down, up down, up down, buckets of water etc etc. If you cant afford a fiver then things must be bad.
Its a service for Gawd's sake...........:mad2:

i pay ten pounds to my female window cleaner , she cleans them with long pole and distilled water it washes the frames all over very well too

guys whilst on the subject of window cleaning, this is not a joke, lying in bed last saturday morning,i could hear something outside,i knew what it sounded like, yes a person climbing up a ladder, the blinds were closed so i just lay in bed,he cleaned the window, back down the ladder, moved ladder to living room window, done the same, then round the back, done the kitchen and bathroom,he then came in to the close chapped the womans next doors door and said 2quid misses, she gave him the money and said
thanks and he was on his way, couldnt stop laffin all day. clown!!! clown!!! clown!!!

With me off work due to family bereavement this week i'm left with all the daily runs and bills to pay.
This morning the window cleaner arrived:yikes:.
Big van with a tank of distilled water in back or a gadget distilling it,lol.
41 windows including small ones on top in sunroom, and 3 doors,£15 and he was done in less than 15 mins.telescopic poles and all. handy money i say.

these pure water systems work by reverse osmosis

when you wash windows traditionally the water picks up the dirt and spreads it about so you need to get the water off the glass or it will dry and leave the dirt on the glass

also waters impure and leaves minerals behind which is the water marks you see

with reverse osmosis the water repels the dirt and it runs away from the glass

the water used has to be pure or distilled for ro to work and so the water can be left on the glass to evaperate without staining

its a brilliant system and a lot of window cleaners now use it

it gets around the working at height regulations as you can go any height that your pole allows without leaving the ground
