back buttered tiles and strong adhesive for me, if there's anything delicate underneath, then battens cut to the right size with door wedges to take up the fine gap works well for me, but I may invest in the extendable clamps now if they are that cheap.

I normally have faith in a backskimmed tile with decent addy on the window head, but, have been known to use the telescopic arms from my Stabil laser level, if I have any doubt.

This is one of the reasons I'm pretty fussy about which adhesive I use, love the fact that my usual adhesive can hold 600x300 porcelain above a window all day long without dropping.

The props do look a good idea though, as sometimes if you have a dip inside the corners of a window you'd rather the tile is supported rather than just hanging on suction.
