Wordpress website getting spammed

A question for any Wordpress platform users.

I am getting spam replies to pics etc on my website but all comments are turned off and there is no visible box to spam in etc.

I get spam to the sliding bar pics mainly but lately getting them in the gallery as well , they don't go live as the spam is auto moderated , just can't for the life of me see how they can spam the pics.

I had this recently, actually it started last Sunday morning and had over 40 messages. I did have the comment box and that's where messages were being left. I also had it auto moderated so nothing actually was on view other than myself.
I set it so no comments on slide show can be left and haven't been bothered since.

I had to go into Photo Albums/Settings/B (slide show related settings) then untick number 10, Comments system.

I have all comments off as well neale but these are into pics where there isn't comments. Lol lol.

Dunno then but I was getting spammed every 15 to 20 minutes on sunday.

Disable the option for user registrations under general settings - then reading settings I think it is.

Check your users - I bet you have loads that have registered as readers.

Ill take a look Dave when on a pc.

Ok , i have looked and looked and i cannot see anywhere to stop these comments.. every comment is in places i cannot see how they did it.. comments for all pages etc are turned off , i have no albums , just a gallery and comments are turned off for gallery but still spam is getting to post somewhere but i cannot see how they are doing it.

I have no readers Dan and no option to see any registrations. ???

Under user accounts, can you see more than one account (which will be your own account set as admin or editor they call it I think).

OK, found where they are posting, it is media .. but cannot see where to turn comments off. ?

Mate, you have this as a comment....

Hi Dan,You can remove the cotmmnes in two ways:1. Method OneOpen the index.php file located in the root folder of the theme(you can also use the editor in the wordpress admin area, under Appearance > Editor, file is named “Main Index Template .On line 27, where this shows: get_template_part( loop’, home’ );. Change to get_template_part( loop’, index’ );2. Method TwoOpen file loop-home.php in the root folder of the theme (you can aslo use the editor in the wordpress admin area)On line 48 where this is displayed: , change to . Now on line 62 thru line 65, you will remove all these lines. So where this displays: ID); ?>Hope this helps

How did they know I was going to login and take a look? Have you asked somebody about it or something?

Okay lads, here's how you sort it.

In Settings > Discussion check the box that says "Users must be registered and logged in to comment"
Then Settings > General UNcheck the box that says "anyone can register".

Users then can't submit a comment unless logged in, and can't register to login in the first place.

Not sure what that spammy instructional post is I quote they're going about it a weird way. And clearly must be watching this forum thread too or something stalkerish like that.
