work for tilers

Hi my name is Keith, I am looking at doing an eight week tiling course in April with Able skills as I have been made redundant but first I thought I would do a bit of research before doing the course as its a fair amount of money. So I went into a couple of tiling shops in Essex to ask if there is any work out there. They basically said I would be wasting my money as there was absolutely no work out there for tilers. I wonder if any of you could give me a bit of feedback on this. many thanks Keith.

times are hard even for well established tilers Keith. whilst we don't tell people that you shouldn't consider re-training and doing something you enjoy, it is worth noting that it may take you some time to establish a business as a self employed tiler in the current economic climate. times are hard for all trades, it's not just tiling that is suffering.

If tiling is what you want to do, then the course is not a waste of money or time. If you are expecting to do the course and then be full time employed, then good luck with that.

Times are hard and I, personally, feel that this year is the toughest of the last three (at least). My phone is not ringing anywhere near as often as it used to and there just isn't as many jobs to go round.
