Hi All

I have just recently started working for myself as a tiler I have advertised in my local paper but work seems to be slow at the moment - any advice on how best to advertise.
Also if there is anyone in the Warrington and surrounding areas who currently has too much work on and is prepared to pass any jobs on, please feel free to reply.

Thanks
Mark

Hi M8, welcome!

I started up recently and I used YELL.COM (didn't expect much from it though to be honest) I'm paying £1 a day for a premium listing and it's bought me loads of work.

I've also had a few jobs from FINDTRUSTEDTRADESMEN.COM which is even better as it's free!

Do a good job and you'll pick up repeat work and recommendations before you know it.

All the best,

Mark

You had many jobs yet mwss77 ?

If so have you any photos of your work you have done so far ?

Also, and you can PM me this if you prefere, what sqm rates do you charge, as I might have, only might, have 2 bathrooms to tile in Widnes at some point.

It's for a lad I know, it's his parents house, main bathroom full tiling and a large en-suite full tiling, and his dads currently shopping round for 2 bathroom suites to be fitted.

I've been down and done an estimate, quite cheap, but not rock bottom because I know him, and they said they were going to get another quote and take it from there.
I know at the moment they have not had another quote yet, not organized that much, , but if they get quoted higher than I estimated then they will probably ask me to do it, but I live In Leyland, and it's a bit of a trek for me, so If I get the jobs, I might be able to pass them onto you with their approval, obviously.

Full job is around 37 sqm, but that includes the back of the baths that cant be tiled and the windows too.

The estimate I gave them included labour, materials but was subject to any prep work that might need doing once they removed the tiles, if they remove them, and they were told removal would be extra.

So, work out what you'd want from the job, PM me it if you don't want to post it here or whatever.

My estimate was £930 all in, so it's wasnt anywhere near rock bottom really.

Yup, it's £1 per day - minimum is 30 days and then you can pay as you go, alter your ad etc. It's worked for me so far.

They do bombard you with sales calls after signing up though; trying to milk you into 118247 directory listings, internet offers and crap like that. After a week of just saying no thanks it all settled down though.

do you have a priotised listing with a weblink?
----
that sounds encouraging - i always assumed it was a minimum 12 month contract
- im giving that a go.
----
They no longer do the 30 day option unfortunately - it was a temporary trial offer according to yell advertising fella.
