First off hi everyone this is my first post to this great forum.

I have a job starting tomorrow tiling the splashback in a kitchen and utility room, the customer has picked some stone effect 'splitface' ceramic tiles and would like a 2mm grout line with charcoal grout. My only worry is how i would go about spreading the grout in without making an absolute mess of the tiles as they are very rustic and 'higgeldy pigedly' as apposed to flat. Should i just try and talk the customer into not having a grout line at all?

Thanks guys.

It's not that bad! I finished a bathroom last week with some very similar. Use the end of the grout float and point it in so as to minimise the residue when wiping down.

Thats a different tile the ones in question are like a mosaic and it states that although they can be used in a wet room they shouldn't be used where they come into direct contact with water. Or the ones I'm looking at do.

You are talking about a "drop stone" or true split face stone mosaic, whereas the ones in the OP's quote (below) are a similar tile to my photo and are a solid tile with a riven mosaic effect face.

Thanks for the replys, the tiles are similar to these www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catrangeti...es/liguria-splitface-effect-grey-tiles/19759/
I'll try and talk him around in the morning then.

Any ceramic or porcelain split face effect tile needs grouting whereas true split face mosaic doesn't
