I had a nice xmas tip on xmas eve off the lovely people i've been working for, £200 ! really nice to get the cash but i'm also made up they think my work is worth that much extra. I think i'll treat myself to a new sat nav

I finished a job 3wks ago, only a splashback 6m, when the I finished the customer asked what he owed, I told him the same as I quoted, he said "I'm not paying you that" I asked why and he said it's not enough for the job you've done and gave me £150 more...happened once or twice, as said it's nice to know someone appreciates what you've done.

I've had more tips (wine) for shovelling snow than tiling this month

That's not bad at all. I've not had tip in the last few months. One lady did give me an extra £30 for fitting a new hot water tank at short notice. Her element had failed and needed replacing but it had corroded itself to the tank. I even tried heat via a piece of brass to the female thread of the tank (saves setting the insulation on fire) but that wouldn't shift it.

So unfortunately the tank had to come out as well, probably just as well as it was looking a bit corroded in places when I stripped the insulation off afterwards.

I got £100 two weeks ago after a bathroom refurb and got £40 the week before that. Makes a difference at this time of the year both financialy and intrinsically.

I don't accept cash tips and tell them to give it to charity instead as I charge more than enough for my services, but I will accept a nice bottle of wine or JD.........
