Hi all! Just wondering what the best advice is for book-keeping? Been self employed now for a couple of years and the tiling business is going quite well but the book-keeper I was recommended has just landed me with an £800 bill to produce my end of year accounts from a pile of receipts in month order and my invoice book and bank statements. My turnover was around £42k, so it's a big old chunk of change for a small business. Any advice for a relative newbie?

You want to try and use some bookkeeping app and use it for your invoices and then it'd be cheaper from your accountant because the books will mostly be balanced and easy.

The problem is the pile of receipts. That's a lot of work. They'll need your bank statements too.

So my first advice is tidy it up quickly and input it all in some software (look in your app store) and then get a price for that.
