There is a full green light on the BDR91 and if I switch the Potterton programmer on HW and CH the radiators come on and switch off when it it reaches the temperature on the DT92E after that any communication stops. The BDR91 is in a very...

Todays fault finding Electrical Advice

Todays fault finding Discussion ThreadTodays fault finding Electrical Advice

I had a bit of a head scratcher today, I think I've got to the bottom of it but thought I would run it past you guys.

0.15MΩ between N and CPC on a ring circuit.

I started breaking down the circuit and when I disconnected one of the sockets the fault cleared. I now got 15MΩ. Nothing obvious to see, but it cleared so I was happy.
I then started putting the sockets back on. One of the sockets was a spur and...

Fault finding for display not working on water softener Discussion ThreadFault finding for display not working on water softener Electrical Advice

Hi everyone. I'm not sure how this works but if anyone is able to help point me in the right direction that would be great. I've got a Monarch water softener and the display isn't working. When I turn on the power it shows just a blue screen. When I press the buttons I hear a beeping noise and the machine starts regenerating, so clearly...

Church wiring advice Electrical Advice

Church wiring advice Discussion ThreadChurch wiring advice Electrical Advice

Hi Guys

Been to look job in a church grade which is also grade 1 listed, installing infra red heating.

Can't see anything in particular in regs specifying what type of wiring system should be used for a church ?

On looking round could see a right old mix of PVC conduit, metal conduit, surface TE and pyro.
Haven't done pyro for about 20 years , so this is out of question for me!
My preferred method would...

Hot Neu. / Reverse when on inverter power Electrical Advice

Hot Neu. / Reverse when on inverter power Discussion ThreadHot Neu. / Reverse when on inverter power Electrical Advice

I have a small camper. When connected to shore power my receptacle tester shows "Correct" (two orange lights). However, when running on my solar generator's (a Jackery Explorer 1000 v2) inverter it shows as "Hot Neu. / Reverse". Is this expected or is there something amiss? If something is amiss then what needs to be done to correct it? (Note: AC appliances seem to...

Best cable type for in floor heating Electrical Advice

Best cable type for in floor heating Discussion ThreadBest cable type for in floor heating Electrical Advice

I am planning on redoing my basement floors and debating on adding underfloor radiant heat. It would be supplemental to my HVAC as the basement as being 70 year old house all registers are roof mount.

My question is due to the large area of main room roughly 13' × 30' (4m × 10m) 400 square feet or 40 square meters. This leads to my current problem, most single cables are less...

How is 0.2s disconnection time met on TT? Discussion ThreadHow is 0.2s disconnection time met on TT? Electrical Advice

Hi all, studying for 2391 and confused on disconnections times for TT systems

Now I’m comfortable understanding the disconnection times for TN systems that need to be met which is 0.4s and because the Zs will be low enough to cause a high Ipf to cause the MCB to operate within 0.4s… also from Rcd/RCBO which disconnects in 300ms (0.3s)

But what I’m baffled on is...

Question is….due to 3 phase PV being on the system would you recommend the main switch RCD to...
